Class DescriptionMantrailing is a scent‑work sport where dogs learn to locate people by following their unique scent trail.
Because every dog has a natural instinct to hunt, mantrailing provides a safe, structured, and highly rewarding outlet for that drive. In class, dogs learn to harness their incredible sense of smell and turn it into an engaging, confidence‑building activity. Handlers discover how to support their dogs on the trail, read their body language, and work together as a team. Mantrailing becomes a super fun sport for both dog and owner, offering mental enrichment, physical exercise, and a deeper partnership built through scent‑based searching. Instructor: Jennifer Hudson Cost: $195.00 4 weeks - 1 hour lesson Class StructureEach session begins with an introduction to scent theory, safety, and equipment, followed by motivation‑building games that teach dogs to enjoy the search.
Handlers learn how to present a scent article, read their dog’s body language, and manage a long line without interfering with the trail. Dogs practice short beginner trails, gradually increasing distance, complexity, and trail age as their confidence grows. As the class progresses, teams work through turns, mild scent challenges, learning how odor moves and how dogs problem‑solve when the trail becomes difficult. Throughout the course, dogs build independence, focus, and resilience, while handlers develop trust in their dog’s nose and strengthen teamwork. The class ends with a trail and a celebration of each team’s progress. Topics Covered
