Puppy class is comprised of an obstacle course, off-leash playtime and a lesson with questions and answer time. You will learn the basic foundation of how to start off on the right paw by using positive training methods!
Early socialization is the BEST thing you can do for your puppy! Lack of socialization increases the risk of problem behaviors later in the dog's life. Socializing your dog includes dogs, people of all ages, shapes and sizes, environments, objects, sounds, smells and the world all around them.
There can be some concern about health risks of exposing your puppy to new people, other animals and environments. However it has been determined that the primary and most important time for puppy socialization is within the first three months of life.
The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior believes that it should be the standard of care for puppies to receive such socialization before they are fully vaccinated. Incomplete or improper socialization during this important time can increase the risk of behavioral problems later in life including fear, avoidance and/or aggression. Pre-registration required - Proof of vaccination required for puppies - the first of the three part Distemper (DHPP) vaccination series and up to date de-worming. Rabies is not a requirement for Puppy Head Start.
We can book clients for PUPPY HEAD START as early as 1 month before your first class. It is beneficial for you to book earlier, rather than later. This includes booking even before you bring your new pup home!
