Intro to Scent Detection

Dogs possess up to 300 million olfactory receptors in their noses, compared to about six million in humans. The part of a dog's brain that is devoted to analyzing smells is 40 times greater than ours.
Scent work requires calm concentration, which will improve your dog's cooperation and strengthen your relationship by building a mutual trust. It is a great way to spend mental energy, help shy and fearful dogs gain confidence and have fun with your dog!
This class will consist of various activities and exercises both indoors and outside to develop your dog's scent detection techniques and team communication.
This is not a fast paced class. The dogs will need to take breaks.
TWO PEOPLE PER DOG IS NECESSARY FOR THIS CLASS, SO BRING A PARTNER WITH YOU EACH WEEK. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PARTNER, WE WILL PROVIDE A VOLUNTEER. NO CHILDREN UNDER 10.
Supply list will be provided after registration.
