GOOD DOG! Level 2
If you took my Manners and More or Dog 101 class, Good Dog is the next class for you!
If you didn't take either of those classes, and your dog knows the basic commands at a beginner level, this class is for you, too!
Good Dog Class emphasizes paying attention, clear communication and taking the basic skills to a higher level. Learn to instruct your dog from a distance, add duration and distractions (sound, visual and smell) in FUN and creative ways to improve your dog's abilities to perform the basic commands.
Hula hoops, music, and games will be used to strengthen skills such as sit, stay, down, stand, come, heel, and leave it, along with learning a few new commands. Some form of Musical Chairs (always a hoot!) is just one of the ways we use music and games to reinforce commands and practice faster responses.
Any children/youth handlers (age 10 and up) should have reasonable control over the dog.
If you are interested in testing for Therapy Dog and/or Canine Good Citizen, I recommend that you complete Manners and More and Good Dog, which cover all of the requirements for both tests. For more information about these tests, visit the Therapy & Canine Good Citizen page.

"Danny and I enjoyed taking this class and you really made it lots of fun! The dogs were engaged all the time and I learned some better communication techniques. The exercises challenged all of us and gave us several new skills, and the games were awesome! I truly appreciated all of the time and effort you put into making your class fun and instructive.
Thanks again," -Christine |
